Psychology Wellbeing and Consulting Eco Psychology

Eco psychology combines ecological and psychological theories and research for the purpose of understanding the relationship between wellbeing in individuals and the natural world.

An increasing amount of research worldwide is confirming what we already intuitively know about the beneficial effect’s of nature on our mental health and wellbeing. In fact, studies show that being in nature for as little as five minutes can improve mood and self-esteem. With our cities becomes increasingly overcrowded and people working longer hours under fluorescent lights, at Psychology Wellbeing and Consulting we recognise the importance of integrating therapy and coaching together with the natural world.

We offer Eco psychology in three different formats: Walk and Talk Therapy, Mindfulness Based Nature Therapy, and Guided Mindfulness Based Nature Workshops.

Walk and Talk Therapy

Walk and Talk therapy is when the psychologist and client spend the session outside walking in natural surroundings for the purpose of enhancing therapy goals.  We know that physical movement and psychotherapy are powerful ways to increase well being, so combining the two together often creates a more enriching experience for some people.

This method works particularly well for people who find it difficult to sit and talk for extended periods, or for those who become overwhelmed easily.  Walk and talk therapy is a less confronting way to discuss your issues, as well benefiting from new insights and feelings that often come when we move our bodies.

Walk and Talk Therapy can be done in natural urban settings, such as walking in a park, a quiet street, by a river, or beach.

Mindfulness Based Nature Therapy

This is slightly different from Walk and Talk therapy due to the intention behind it. In this approach the session can be conducted walking, sitting, or both. Nature plays an active role in helping individuals resolve an issue, generate different perspectives, or manage painful feelings by consciously connecting to different aspects of nature using mindfulness principles.

This is a wonderful way to develop a deeper experience and meaning with the self and the world around us.

Guided Mindfulness Based Nature Workshops: 2 hours in duration.

Amelia provides guided meditation practices in a natural environment both in an individual and group format. More details to come.
